It's been 12 white-hot reminders
that forever means nevermore.
Painted Mexican siestas.
I dreamt I ate my pillow
and woke with feathers on my lips.

Ice-pick eyes watch me
watching you
watching her.

It's been a long drink from a cool glass
with plastic monkey attached.
Red shades of a false eternity.
A spectre haunts the desert
like a blonded cactus.

Now I'm ironically,
empathetically,
posthumously stalking Trotsky.

Original poetry by me.
